R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Since opening in 2006, the Harmony School of
  Innovation in Houston has earned a reputation for excellence; and
         WHEREAS, HSI is part of Harmony Public Schools, a group of 33
  K-12 charter schools in Texas operated by the Cosmos Foundation;
  focused on math, science, engineering, and technology, these
  schools work to provide opportunities for underserved communities;
  and
         WHEREAS, Consistently rated exemplary by the Texas Education
  Agency, HSI in Houston boasts a college acceptance rate of 100
  percent and a dropout rate of zero percent; moreover, HSI students
  have proudly represented the school at a number of major events; and
         WHEREAS, In 2009, middle school students won the state
  championship at the Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic
  League (TCSAAL) Math Olympiad, and that same year, HSI took second
  place in the Cosmos Foundation's COSMOBOT Robotics Competition; in
  both 2009 and 2010, HSI students were among only 100 individuals who
  qualified to compete at the state National Geographic Bee sponsored
  by the National Geographic Society; and
         WHEREAS, Most recently, a middle school team from HSI took
  first place at the 2011 TCSAAL Chess Tournament, while one student
  placed second in the individual competition; in addition, a team of
  fifth through seventh graders from HSI won the Youngest Engineers
  Award at the Harmony Robotics League contest in Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, Thanks to inspiring and dedicated teachers and an
  atmosphere that encourages both discipline and creative thinking,
  the students of the Harmony School of Innovation are receiving a
  strong educational foundation on which to build; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Harmony School of Innovation for its
  achievements and extend to its students and faculty sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
