R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Alex Crisara and Jahan Rabii of Anderson High School
  in Austin have earned great distinction for themselves and their
  school by winning Best in Fair at the 2011 Austin Energy Regional
  Science Festival; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Crisara, a sophomore, and Mr. Rabii, a freshman,
  entered the fair in the engineering materials and bioengineering
  category with a science project entitled "Algae-Based Atmospheric
  Revitalization for Zero Gravity and Aerospace Application"; their
  entry claimed top prize in its category in addition to being
  selected for the coveted Best in Fair award; and
         WHEREAS, This innovative effort was designed to research the
  use of algae and photosynthesis to clean the air in the
  International Space Station; Mr. Crisara came up with the initial
  concept for the project and focused on many of its biological
  aspects; Mr. Rabii applied his extensive knowledge of aerospace
  technology to the initiative, having been inspired to learn about
  the field by his aunt, a NASA astronaut who has spent time aboard
  the space station; and
         WHEREAS, The accomplishment of Mr. Crisara and Mr. Rabii in
  winning this event represents only the second time that students
  from Anderson High School have taken top honors at the regional
  science festival, and Mr. Crisara and Mr. Rabii are among the
  youngest ever to win Best in Fair, which usually goes to high school
  seniors; and
         WHEREAS, With their victory at the Austin competition, these
  two talented students will advance to the ExxonMobil Texas Science
  and Engineering Fair in San Antonio, the International Sustainable
  World Energy, Engineering, and Environment Project Olympiad in
  Houston, and the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair
  in Los Angeles; their project also garnered them awards from the ASM
  Materials Education Foundation, the National Society of
  Professional Engineers, and the Austin Independent School
  District, as well as a BAE Systems Sensor Integration Award; and
         WHEREAS, The intelligence, determination, and creativity
  demonstrated by Alex Crisara and Jahan Rabii have proven them to be
  young Texans of tremendous ability and promise, and they may take
  justifiable pride in their notable achievement; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Alex Crisara and Jahan Rabii for
  winning Best in Fair at the 2011 Austin Energy Regional Science
  Festival and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Crisara and Mr. Rabii as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
