R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
|
of Orvis Warren Marrs of Waco, who passed away on March 22, 2011, at |
|
|
the age of 94; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in Lorena to Joseph and Maud Marrs on January |
|
|
24, 1917, Orvis Marrs answered his nation's call to duty with |
|
|
service in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II; returning |
|
|
to Central Texas, he worked for the Cameron Roofing Company before |
|
|
becoming co-owner of the Garret-Marrs Roofing Company; he was later |
|
|
employed with the Johnson Roofing Company; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Marrs married the former Flora Belle Bufkin on |
|
|
July 27, 1939, and together they enjoyed 71 rewarding years and were |
|
|
blessed with 3 children, James, Gary, and Linda, as well as 9 |
|
|
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to spending time with his family, Mr. |
|
|
Marrs took great pleasure in hunting and fishing; he was guided by |
|
|
his deep Christian faith and was a valued member of Emmanuel Baptist |
|
|
Church, where he served his congregation as a deacon; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Known for his kindness and his ever-present smile, |
|
|
Orvis Marrs touched the lives of countless people, and he will long |
|
|
be remembered with great affection by all those who were privileged |
|
|
to share in his love and friendship; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Orvis Warren Marrs |
|
|
and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
|
wife, Flora Belle Marrs; to his sons, James Tony Marrs and Gary |
|
|
Warren Marrs and his wife, Linda; to his daughter, Linda Sue Oberg, |
|
|
and her husband, Lance; to his grandchildren, Laura, Jana, Lisa, |
|
|
Scott, Jamie, Jared, Brian, and Leah; to his great-grandchildren, |
|
|
Abigail, Jonathan, Andrew, Joseph, Jessica, Arthur, Adam, Olivia, |
|
|
Kellan, and Devaney; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Orvis W. |
|
|
Marrs. |
