R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, U.S. Army Reserve Specialist Sherica L. Redrick of |
|
Waco qualified for the 2011 Armed Forces Boxing Championship; and |
|
WHEREAS, This prestigious event brings together 35 |
|
servicemembers from duty stations around the world to fight in 10 |
|
male and 4 female weight divisions; and |
|
WHEREAS, Specialist Redrick has been boxing since middle |
|
school, and she keeps fit by regularly running and working out at |
|
the gym; competing in the flyweight class, she bested other |
|
competitors from the army to qualify for the championship, where |
|
she was uncontested and took home the gold medal; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Larry and Winifred Redrick, Sherica |
|
Redrick graduated from Waco High School in 2005; she has been a |
|
member of the Army Reserve for a year, serving her nation as a human |
|
resources specialist with the 961st Engineering Battalion in |
|
Seagoville; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through hard work, discipline, and dedication, |
|
Sherica Redrick has distinguished herself as a talented athlete, |
|
and she may indeed take great pride in her achievement; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Specialist Sherica L. Redrick on |
|
qualifying for the 2011 Armed Forces Boxing Championship and extend |
|
to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Specialist Redrick as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
