R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and purposeful life drew to a close on March
  20, 2011, with the passing of Christine Kocian Vanek of West at the
  age of 94; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Penelope on July 27, 1916, to Vince and
  Frances Kocian, the former Christine Kocian attended Cottonwood
  School near Hubbard; in 1937 she married Frank Vanek, and they
  shared 38 years of marriage before his passing; the couple were
  blessed with four children, Patsy, Maxine, Steve, and Allen, and
  with the passing years, Mrs. Vanek had the pleasure of welcoming
  into her family 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her work as a devoted homemaker, she
  owned and operated the popular Dixie Hamburger Drive-In with her
  husband for several years; she was also a talented seamstress and
  served a 20-year tenure with Lorch Manufacturing Company in West;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Vanek was a valued member of her community of
  faith, holding membership in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the
  Assumption, Catholic Daughters of America, and the K.J.Z.T.
  Society; in her free time, she enjoyed canning and tending her
  flowers and garden; and
         WHEREAS, Although she is deeply missed, Christine Vanek is
  remembered with great tenderness and affection by all those who
  were fortunate enough to share in her love and friendship; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Christine Kocian
  Vanek and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to
  her children, Patsy C'de Baca and her husband, Frankie, Maxine
  Kazda, Allen Vanek and his wife, Stephanie, and Steve Vanek; to her
  sister, Frances Beseda; to her 10 grandchildren and 15
  great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Christine
  Vanek.
