R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Scott Rentz of China Spring, who passed away on March 16, 2011,
  at the age of 93; and
         WHEREAS, Born on July 21, 1917, to George and Barbara Rentz,
  Scott Rentz grew up on his family's farm and, after his father's
  death in 1928, helped his mother with its operation; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Rentz married the love of his life, Neva Lee
  Jackson, on April 13, 1940; the couple enjoyed 56 years together and
  took great pride in their two children, Susan and Jack; Mr. Rentz
  joined the First Baptist Church of China Spring at the age of 42,
  and the church would become a central part of his life for the next
  five decades; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to tending his farm, he worked as a
  paving foreman for Downing Brothers Construction Company for 28
  years; fully devoting himself to his farm after his retirement in
  1985, he labored many hours each harvest season with a close friend
  to bring in his crops; it was not until Mr. Rentz reached the age of
  88 that he allowed others to help him do the work he dearly loved to
  do himself; in recognition of the continuous operation of the
  family farm for more than a century, he and his children were
  honored at the State Capitol in 2007 by the Texas Department of
  Agriculture Family Land Heritage Program; and
         WHEREAS, Although Scott Rentz will be deeply missed, those he
  leaves behind will forever treasure their memories of his wry sense
  of humor, his many entertaining stories about times gone by, and his
  devotion to his home and his family; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Scott Rentz and extend
  sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his children,
  Susan Pigeon and Jack Rentz and his wife, Becky; to his
  grandchildren, Ben and Blake Pigeon and Scott, Amy, and Bailey
  Rentz; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Scott
  Rentz.
