R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The boys' varsity golf team of Midway High School in |
|
|
Waco distinguished itself with a third-place finish at the Marvin |
|
|
Dameron Invitational, held February 18 and 19, 2011, at Cottonwood |
|
|
Creek Golf Course and Twin Rivers Golf Club in Waco; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The tournament, which involved 30 squads from across |
|
|
the state, is hosted by Midway High and serves as a significant |
|
|
fund-raising event for the school's boys' and girls' golf teams; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Five individual golfers were awarded medals for |
|
|
their outstanding play: Blake Stock, Reid Carlisle, Matthew |
|
|
Salinas, Ike Tipton, and Coleman Curry; also contributing to the |
|
|
Panthers' success were team members Chris Rendleman, Landon |
|
|
Harrell, Zach Umhoefer, Louis Pham, Cameron Harris, Frank Stevens, |
|
|
Brandon Smith, Cody Jones, Kyle Karnei, Jacob Heppel, and Joey |
|
|
Villarreal; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With their fine showing at the invitational |
|
|
tournament, the dedicated student-athletes of the Midway High golf |
|
|
team demonstrated that they can hold their own against talented |
|
|
competitors from throughout Texas, and they may take justifiable |
|
|
pride in their performance; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Midway High School boys' golf |
|
|
team on winning third place at the 2011 Marvin Dameron Invitational |
|
|
and extend to coach David May and the members of the squad sincere |
|
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
