R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Sons of Hermann Hall in Dallas has played an
  important role in the community for 100 years, and area residents
  are celebrating this milestone in 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Four local Sons of Hermann lodges pooled their
  resources to build the hall, and it opened at 3414 Elm Street in
  April 1911; today the site is jointly owned by Texas Sons of Hermann
  Dallas Lodge No. 22 and Columbia Lodge No. 66 and managed by the
  Sons of Hermann Hall Home Association; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to serving as a fraternal meeting house,
  the historic building is a legendary live music venue and dance hall
  known for its hardwood floors and warm acoustics; among the
  numerous musicians who have played there are Townes Van Zandt,
  Wilco, the Dixie Chicks, Joe Ely, Gillian Welch, the Old 97's, the
  Gourds, and Asleep at the Wheel; and
         WHEREAS, Still hosting weekly dance lessons and music shows,
  the Sons of Hermann Hall continues to figure prominently in the
  lives of many Texans, and its rich history as a gathering place for
  fun and camaraderie is indeed worthy of special recognition; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Sons of
  Hermann Hall and extend to all those associated with the landmark
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the hall as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
