R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The girls' varsity golf team of Waxahachie High
  School distinguished itself by winning the 15-4A championship at
  the district tournament that took place April 4 and 5, 2011, at the
  Country View Golf Course in Lancaster; and
         WHEREAS, After the first day of play, the Lady Indians had a
  combined score of 386 and had fallen behind Red Oak High School by
  16 strokes; they rallied with an exceptional performance on day
  two, however, reducing their score to 355 to win the tournament by
  19 strokes and give the team its first-ever district title; and
         WHEREAS, Elena Thomas paced the team by shooting an 85 on the
  first day and a 76 on the second for a score of 161; she was followed
  by Carissa Araujo, who shot a 188, Halee Davis, who tallied 191,
  Baylee Mallett scoring 201, and Mikayla Stallcop shooting 239; Ms.
  Thomas, Ms. Araujo, Ms. Davis, and Ms. Mallett were named to the
  all-district team; and
         WHEREAS, With their fine showing at the district tournament,
  the Lady Indians attained a new milestone of success in the history
  of Waxahachie High golf, and they may take justifiable pride in
  their performance; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Waxahachie High School girls'
  golf team on winning the District 15-4A championship and extend to
  coach Ron Siebert
  and the members of the squad sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
