R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Mary Elizabeth Dunham is celebrating her 80th |
|
birthday on April 29, 2011, and this significant occasion presents |
|
an ideal opportunity to honor a beloved Houstonian; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1931, Mary Dunham |
|
has lived in the Kashmere Gardens neighborhood in Houston for more |
|
than 55 years; active in her community, she assists in feeding the |
|
hungry and counsels young people on the importance of education, |
|
and she volunteers for and participates in many events for local |
|
senior citizens, even providing transportation when needed; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Dunham has been a faithful member of the Duncan |
|
Memorial Church of God in Christ for more than half a century and |
|
has generously shared her time and talents with the church and its |
|
ministries; and |
|
WHEREAS, She raised eight children, Bernita, Andre, |
|
Fredrick, Larthia, Reginald, Byron, Eric, and Mark, and experienced |
|
the joy of seeing all of them go to college, attending such schools |
|
as Texas Tech University, the University of Houston, Prairie View |
|
A&M University, Texas Woman's University, and the University of |
|
Northern Iowa; Mrs. Dunham has also welcomed 45 grandchildren and |
|
21 great-grandchildren into her family; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mary Dunham is a source of wisdom and inspiration to |
|
all who are privileged to know her, and it is a pleasure to honor her |
|
on eight decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mary Elizabeth Dunham on the |
|
occasion of her 80th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Dunham as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
