R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |
|
cause for celebration, and Eloise Holder of Waco reached that |
|
impressive milestone on April 17, 2011; and |
|
WHEREAS, Eloise McKamie was born in Moody in 1921, the ninth |
|
child of William Henry and Nancy Ida McKamie; as a young woman, she |
|
moved to Waco, where she met and married Fraser C. Holder, a soldier |
|
stationed at Blackland Army Air Field; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Holder and her husband operated the Stadium |
|
Drive-In Grocery, named for its proximity to the Baylor University |
|
football stadium; the store became best known for Mrs. Holder's |
|
mouthwatering hamburgers, which were dubbed by regulars as the |
|
"Holder Hamburger"; they were a favorite of residents of Waco, as |
|
well as out-of-town Bears fans who made the Stadium Drive-In part of |
|
their game-day ritual; Mrs. Holder and her husband retired after |
|
nearly 50 years in business; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to being the woman behind the Stadium |
|
Drive-In Grocery's famous burgers, Eloise Holder has made a |
|
positive difference in the lives of many people, and it is a |
|
pleasure to join her loved ones in honoring her on this memorable |
|
occasion; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Eloise Holder on her 90th birthday |
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Holder as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
