R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Army National Guard Specialist Stefan M. Bernard has |
|
successfully completed the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at |
|
Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia; and |
|
WHEREAS, One Station Unit Training is a 14-week program that |
|
consists of Basic Infantry Training followed by Advanced Individual |
|
Training; the intensive 9-week basic course included study of the |
|
army's history, traditions, and core values, as well as physical |
|
fitness training and instruction in a number of vital subjects, |
|
such as first aid, combat, weapons and marksmanship, map reading |
|
and navigation, and field maneuvers and tactics; and |
|
WHEREAS, The advanced program equipped Specialist Bernard |
|
with the skills necessary to perform his job as an infantry soldier; |
|
it included field instruction in conducting combat and |
|
reconnaissance operations and in operating advanced weaponry and |
|
equipment; Specialist Bernard also learned how to survive in an |
|
area that is contaminated with nuclear radiation or with biological |
|
or chemical agents; and |
|
WHEREAS, Stefan Bernard is the son of Martin N. Bernard, Sr., |
|
of Woodway; after graduating from Midway High School in 2005, he |
|
went on to earn a bachelor's degree in 2010 from the University of |
|
Louisiana at Lafayette; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his courage, dedication to service, and |
|
patriotism, Stefan Bernard embodies the highest ideals of the |
|
United States armed forces, and he is indeed deserving of his fellow |
|
citizens' deepest appreciation; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Specialist Stefan M. Bernard on his |
|
graduation from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training and |
|
commend him on his decision to serve his country as a member of the |
|
United States Army National Guard; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Specialist Bernard as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
