R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Midway High School students Suzanne Stricker, Emily
  Neubert, and Taylor Mattson have won the local Voice of Democracy
  contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and
         WHEREAS, To enter the Voice of Democracy contest, students in
  grades 9 through 12 compose an essay on a given theme and then make a
  three-minute to five-minute recording of themselves reading their
  work; the 2011 contest addressed the question "Does my generation
  have a role in America's future?"; for their compelling essays,
  Ms. Stricker, Ms. Neubert, and Ms. Mattson received first, second,
  and third place honors in the area competition; and
         WHEREAS, Through creativity and initiative, these young
  Texans have earned the respect of their classmates and their
  community, and in so doing, they have distinguished themselves as
  eloquent and patriotic individuals; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Suzanne Stricker, Emily Neubert,
  and Taylor Mattson on winning the local Voice of Democracy contest
  and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success in all
  their endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
  for Ms. Stricker, Ms. Neubert, and Ms. Mattson as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
