R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Midway High School students Suzanne Stricker, Emily |
|
|
Neubert, and Taylor Mattson have won the local Voice of Democracy |
|
|
contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To enter the Voice of Democracy contest, students in |
|
|
grades 9 through 12 compose an essay on a given theme and then make a |
|
|
three-minute to five-minute recording of themselves reading their |
|
|
work; the 2011 contest addressed the question "Does my generation |
|
|
have a role in America's future?"; for their compelling essays, |
|
|
Ms. Stricker, Ms. Neubert, and Ms. Mattson received first, second, |
|
|
and third place honors in the area competition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through creativity and initiative, these young |
|
|
Texans have earned the respect of their classmates and their |
|
|
community, and in so doing, they have distinguished themselves as |
|
|
eloquent and patriotic individuals; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Suzanne Stricker, Emily Neubert, |
|
|
and Taylor Mattson on winning the local Voice of Democracy contest |
|
|
and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success in all |
|
|
their endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
|
for Ms. Stricker, Ms. Neubert, and Ms. Mattson as an expression of |
|
|
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
