R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  death of Miriam Simmons of Waco on March 21, 2011, at the age of 98;
  and
         WHEREAS, "Snooks" Simmons was joined in marriage with Edward
  Simmons, who served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air
  Corps; the couple had a son, Edward, and shared a rewarding
  relationship until Lieutenant Simmons was killed in action in the
  Philippines during World War II; and
         WHEREAS, After moving to Waco in 1963, Mrs. Simmons was
  employed with the Veterans Administration for many years; she
  delighted in the small-town feel of her adopted hometown and was an
  avid bridge player; and
         WHEREAS, Although Snooks Simmons will be deeply missed,
  cherished memories of time spent in her company will long endure in
  the hearts of her family and friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Miriam Simmons and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her son,
  Edward Simmons, and his wife, Karen; to her aunt, Georgia Breeden;
  to her cousins, Glenn Breeden and Carol Leaverton; to her longtime
  friends, Annette Brister, Betty Smith, Gail Thomas, and Tammie
  Stripling; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Miriam
  Simmons.
