R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Delton |
|
Ferrell Steed of Waco, who died on March 23, 2011, at the age of 90; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Del Steed was born in Chidester, Arkansas, on |
|
November 14, 1920, to Floyd and Jewell Steed; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1945, Mr. Steed met Erline Harger in Meridian, |
|
Mississippi, and the following year the couple were married; they |
|
were blessed with three children, Lesli, Marilyn, and Rusty, and |
|
shared six and a half decades together; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Steed worked as an air traffic controller for 30 |
|
years, retiring in 1973; he went on to hold several other positions, |
|
including serving as a captain of the Brazos Queen riverboat, a job |
|
he particularly enjoyed; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although he is deeply missed, those privileged to |
|
share in the friendship and love of Del Steed will always remember |
|
him with great admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Delton Ferrell Steed |
|
and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
wife, Erline Harger Steed; to his daughters, Lesli Steed McKinney |
|
and Marilyn Steed Keough; to his son, Rusty Steed, and his wife, |
|
Nancy; to his grandsons, Rusty Steed II, Jon Steed, and Randy Steed |
|
and his fiancé, Rachel Majewski; to his great-grandchildren, |
|
Amanda, Alyssa, Cole, and Schyluer; to his honorary daughter, Carla |
|
Hernandez, and her husband, Luis; and to his other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family, and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Del Steed. |
