R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Special Ranger Thomas R. Roberts is retiring from
  the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association on April 30,
  2011, drawing to a close a notable career in law enforcement that
  has spanned nearly half a century; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Raymondville, "Hap" Roberts went to work
  as a deputy sheriff in Willacy County in 1963, and in 1966 he joined
  the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as a game warden in Corpus
  Christi; he later served as a training coordinator at the TPWD Game
  Warden Academy in Austin; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Roberts was hired by the TSCRA as a field
  inspector in 1973, and he went on to earn a commission as a special
  ranger from the Texas Department of Public Safety; assigned to the
  district that included McMullen, Duval, Jim Wells, Nueces, Kleberg,
  and Kenedy Counties, Special Ranger Roberts investigated thefts of
  cattle and horses, inspected livestock to determine ownership after
  natural disasters, identified stray livestock, and educated
  ranchers on theft prevention; since 2003, he has been the
  supervisor for Region 4, overseeing the work of special rangers in
  42 South Texas counties; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, Special Ranger Roberts has
  enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Dayner, as well as their
  two sons, Wade and Cody, and his family also includes two grandsons,
  Austin and Matthew; and
         WHEREAS, Special Ranger Roberts has greatly benefited his
  fellow Texans with his dedication, professionalism, and commitment
  to the cattle industry, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his
  accomplishments as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his
  life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Special Ranger Thomas R. Roberts on
  his retirement from the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers
  Association and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Special Ranger Roberts as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
