R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |
|
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Jack and Kay Huffman of |
|
Austin celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on April |
|
15, 2011; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Huffman were high school sweethearts in |
|
San Antonio and were joined in matrimony in 1961; they both |
|
graduated from The University of Texas at Austin while raising |
|
their family, which includes four treasured children, John, |
|
Carolyn, Nancy, and Neil, and five adored grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. Huffman is |
|
retired from the Texas governor's office and the Legislative Budget |
|
Board and Mrs. Huffman is retired from the comptroller's office and |
|
the Texas Legislative Council; both were employed by the Lone Star |
|
State for more than 30 years, and they instilled a strong work ethic |
|
in their children as well as a desire to serve the public; and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, this inspiring couple run Emilie's Quilt |
|
Haus, a small quilt retreat facility in the Texas Hill Country near |
|
Stonewall; the facility is named for Mrs. Huffman's grandmother, |
|
Emilie Lindig, who was born in a one-room log cabin on the property; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Huffman have enjoyed five decades of |
|
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an |
|
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|
commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jack and Kay Huffman on their |
|
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Huffman as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
