R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Studios at Las Colinas in Irving is celebrating |
|
|
its 30th anniversary with a film and television gala on April 30, |
|
|
2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since Silkwood was filmed there in 1983, the Studios |
|
|
at Las Colinas has served as the production facility for such major |
|
|
films as The Trip to Bountiful, RoboCop, JFK, Leap of Faith, and |
|
|
Talk Radio; in addition, a number of television programs, including |
|
|
Walker, Texas Ranger, Prison Break, and the popular children's |
|
|
series Barney & Friends, have been produced at the site; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Managed by Muller Entertainment since 2005, the |
|
|
Studios at Las Colinas is considered one of the largest soundstage |
|
|
studios between the east and west coasts and one of the largest |
|
|
production and soundstage studios in Texas; following a |
|
|
multimillion-dollar renovation in 2009, this impressive venue |
|
|
includes three versatile soundstages, a suite of full-service |
|
|
production offices, and numerous filming locations on the studio |
|
|
property and nearby; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Studios at Las Colinas has greatly contributed |
|
|
to the local economy, while helping to make Texas a prime |
|
|
destination for film and television production, and it is indeed a |
|
|
pleasure to commend it for three decades of service to the moving |
|
|
image industry; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Studios |
|
|
at Las Colinas and extend to all those associated with the facility |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the studio as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
