R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Mary Marlow Woodard, the director of library
  services for the Mesquite Independent School District, is being
  deservedly recognized with two prestigious statewide honors in
  2011; and
         WHEREAS, On April 14, Ms. Woodard received the Distinguished
  Library Service Award for School Administrators from the Texas
  Association of School Librarians; in being selected for this
  notable accolade, she was judged on nine criteria that assessed her
  success in vital areas such as staffing, budgeting, integration of
  technology, and the creation of a culture that promotes learning;
  and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Woodard has also been announced as the
  chair-elect of TASL and will begin her term as the organization's
  chief officer in April 2012; TASL is the largest division of the
  Texas Library Association and is dedicated to promoting library
  services and librarianship in Texas schools; and
         WHEREAS, This knowledgeable professional began her career
  with Mesquite ISD in 1987; she worked as an elementary and middle
  school librarian for 11 years and draws on that valuable hands-on
  experience in her efforts to continue the district's tradition of
  providing quality educational resources to its students; and
         WHEREAS, School libraries play an essential role in helping
  young people to prepare for the challenges and opportunities of the
  future, and the dedicated efforts of Mary Woodard provide an
  outstanding example of the many positive achievements that can be
  realized through the work of skilled and committed library
  administrators; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Mary Marlow Woodard on her receipt
  of the Distinguished Library Service Award for School
  Administrators from the Texas Association of School Librarians and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for a successful tenure as chair
  of the association; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Woodard as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
