R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, With a deep commitment to the Texas business
  community, Larry D. Williams of State Auto Insurance Companies has
  made the wise decision to relocate to the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Williams is a leading executive in the property
  and casualty insurance industry and serves as vice president and
  director of middle market operations for Ohio-based State Auto
  Insurance Companies; seeing a prime opportunity to expand his
  division, he launched State Auto's Austin Center, which today
  employs many area residents as a major personal and business
  insurance hub serving Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Oklahoma;
  and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of four decades, Mr. Williams has
  served in executive and leadership roles with Buckeye Union
  Insurance Company, Continental Insurance Company, and American
  International Group; in 1999, he founded Greatland Insurance
  Company and served as its chief executive officer until 2004; his
  brief retirement ended when State Auto offered him a key position;
  and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic professional is a decorated veteran of
  the United States Army, having served in combat operations during
  the Vietnam War; his experience in military intelligence led to a
  two-year assignment with the National Security Agency; through
  State Auto's initiative to provide employment to former service
  members, he serves as a mentor to returning veterans; and
         WHEREAS, Numerous civic and community organizations have
  benefited from Mr. Williams's leadership; he has served on the
  boards of Central Ohio American Charities and the Cleveland Zoo,
  and he has given generously of his time and talents as a Boy Scout
  Master and diving instructor; moreover, he is a founding member of
  the Head Hunters Fraternity and serves as president of the Safari
  Club International; and
         WHEREAS, Recognized as a big game hunter, Mr. Williams has a
  number of entries in the SCI world record book; he recently
  purchased a ranch in Lampasas, where he can house an ever-expanding
  collection of guns, Lucchese boots, and Stetson hats, befitting a
  man whose family tree includes defenders of the Alamo; in all his
  endeavors, Mr. Williams enjoys the love and support of his wife,
  Julie, and their three children, Larry, Christine, and Jackie; and
         WHEREAS, Our economy is energized by the contributions of
  successful and civic-minded business leaders, and it is a pleasure
  to recognize Larry Williams for his personal and professional
  achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Larry D. Williams on his distinguished
  career and extend to him a warm welcome to the Lone Star State; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Williams as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
