R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Nigel Christopher of Mount Pleasant has been named |
|
|
the 2011 Republican of the Year by the Titus County Republican |
|
|
Party; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of England, Mr. Christopher earned his |
|
|
bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Birmingham, |
|
|
and after immigrating to the United States, he obtained his |
|
|
executive MBA from the University of New Hampshire; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Christopher is an accomplished professional |
|
|
whose career has included service as president of Nordstrom Valves |
|
|
and of Dekoron Wire & Cable, and he is currently president and CEO |
|
|
of PDI Plastics; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Generously sharing his time and talents to help |
|
|
build the local Republican Party, Mr. Christopher has been vice |
|
|
chair of the Titus County group as well as a member of its executive |
|
|
committee since 2008; he has further distinguished himself as a |
|
|
delegate to the state convention and as a member of the resolutions |
|
|
committee of the county convention; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Christopher has worked hard to |
|
|
master the Texas Election Code, and during the 2010 elections, he |
|
|
managed the signature verification committee and led an |
|
|
investigation to identify fraudulent voters and voting patterns; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Christopher has given back to his community as a |
|
|
member of the Mount Vernon School Board, serving a term as president |
|
|
from 2006-2007, and as a member of several Texas Workforce |
|
|
Commission training advisory boards; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With the love and support of his wife, Sandy, Nigel |
|
|
Christopher has set an outstanding example of civic engagement, and |
|
|
it is indeed a pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Nigel Christopher on his selection |
|
|
as the 2011 Titus County Republican of the Year and extend to him |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Christopher as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
