R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Rotary District 1650 Group Study |
|
|
Exchange program from Brittany, France, are visiting the State |
|
|
Capitol on May 9, 2011, as part of their tour with Central Texas |
|
|
Rotary District 5870; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Group Study Exchanges are one of the initiatives |
|
|
sponsored by Rotary International, a worldwide service club |
|
|
organization with more than 1.2 million members who work to provide |
|
|
education and job training, combat hunger, improve health and |
|
|
sanitation, and promote peace; since 1985, Rotary International has |
|
|
also been a leader in the fight to eradicate polio, and has joined |
|
|
forces with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the World Health |
|
|
Organization in this effort; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A unique cultural and vocational opportunity, the |
|
|
Group Study Exchange program gives young professionals between the |
|
|
ages of 25 and 40 the chance to visit and learn more about another |
|
|
country and to observe how their vocations are practiced abroad; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Central Texas Rotary District 5870 is made up of |
|
|
approximately 60 clubs, with about 14 in the Austin area, and is |
|
|
ably led by district governor Ruth Allison; its members are hosting |
|
|
District 1650 Rotarians Amandine Perret, Delphine Roul, Marie Laure |
|
|
Plu, Stéphane Cadieu, David Charretuer, and Pierre Weickert from |
|
|
May 7 through June 5, 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Group Study Exchange program provides |
|
|
participants with exceptional opportunities to share viewpoints |
|
|
and expertise, gain valuable insights, and build bonds of greater |
|
|
understanding with people from all around the world, and Rotary |
|
|
members are to be commended for sponsoring this worthy endeavor; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby welcome the members of the Rotary District 5870 |
|
|
and Rotary District 1650 Group Study Exchange program to the State |
|
|
Capitol and extend to them sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and |
|
|
memorable visit; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
