R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Bobby Gene Brown of Lubbock, who passed away on April 3, 2011, at |
|
the age of 70; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on October 28, 1940, in Gorman to Jack Sullivan |
|
and Wilmath Brown, Bobby Brown was raised in his hometown and later |
|
moved with his family to Midland, where he graduated from high |
|
school; he served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to |
|
1964 and then became involved in many entrepreneurial and |
|
commercial undertakings, owning and operating a brick business, a |
|
home building firm, a business consulting firm, and a home mortgage |
|
business, among other ventures; he was also a semipro drag racer in |
|
his youth; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Brown further distinguished himself as the owner |
|
and CEO of the Citizens 1st Corporation, a Conservation Reserve |
|
Program funding company, and at the time of his passing he was the |
|
CEO and chair of the board of Transitions Industries, which |
|
provides assistive devices to patients with mobility problems; and |
|
WHEREAS, Generous with his time and finances in behalf of the |
|
causes he supported, Mr. Brown contributed to the Texas Tech |
|
University Car Coach Program and was instrumental in beginning |
|
Lubbock's Night to Honor Israel, serving on the steering committee |
|
for three years; in addition, this devout Christian was a member of |
|
the board of reference at Oral Roberts University; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Brown enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, Lucy, and he also took great pride in their |
|
children, Mark, Ashley, Eric, Stephanie, Heather, and Amanda, as |
|
well as their granddaughter Coco; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bobby Brown lived a caring and purposeful life, and |
|
he leaves behind a legacy that will long be treasured by all those |
|
who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Bobby Gene Brown of |
|
Lubbock and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family, |
|
including Lucy Brown, Mark and his wife, Amy, Ashley Watkins and |
|
Michelle, Eric Bowman, Stephanie Bowman, Heather Bowman, Amanda |
|
Bowman, Coco Brown, Judy Brown, Louella Murray, Robert Stokesberry, |
|
and Kathy Davis and her husband, Steve; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bobby Gene |
|
Brown. |
