R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Julia Hikel of Elm Mott, who passed away on March 10, 2011, at the |
|
age of 90; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in the Smetana community near Bryan on April 5, |
|
1920, Julia Hikel was the daughter of Frank and Albina Regmund; she |
|
married Rudolph E. Hikel, Sr., with whom she raised three children, |
|
and the couple shared many happy times together before Mr. Hikel's |
|
death; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hikel worked as a civil service aircraft |
|
mechanic during World War II, and her small hands made it possible |
|
for her to perform tasks that many others could not; she went on to |
|
raise cattle with her husband, and after his passing, she worked |
|
with the Waco Independent School District and Plantation Foods; and |
|
WHEREAS, A talented cook, Mrs. Hikel was known for her |
|
delicious home-baked goods, especially her kolaches, and she also |
|
took pleasure in making quilts; and |
|
WHEREAS, Julia Hikel enjoyed a life that was rich in the |
|
intangibles that matter most, and she is deeply missed by all those |
|
who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Julia Hikel and |
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|
daughters, Judith Little and her husband, Robert, and Rose |
|
Williams; to her son, Rudolph E. Hikel II, and his wife, Beth; to |
|
her grandchildren, Sarah and Anthony Little, Daniel Williams, Amy |
|
Hikel Hanshew, and Rudolph E. Hikel III; to her great-grandson, |
|
Rudolph E. Hikel IV; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Julia |
|
Hikel. |
