R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Students at Lorena Middle School raised more than
  $2,000 to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the 2011
  Pennies for Patients campaign; and
         WHEREAS, Pennies for Patients is a fund-raiser for the
  Leukemia & Lymphoma Society that supports research, services, and
  public health and professional education in the battle against
  blood cancers; the program gives students the opportunity to make a
  difference through teamwork, and since 1994, millions of dollars
  have been raised by elementary, middle, and high school students
  across the country; and
         WHEREAS, From January 17 to February 4, Lorena Middle School
  students took part in a friendly competition collecting spare
  change to donate to the worthy cause; students from English teacher
  Jenny Glaser's second-period class won first place for raising the
  most money for the campaign; and
         WHEREAS, By sharing their resources and working together for
  a common goal, Lorena Middle School students have contributed to
  the fight against cancer, and they are to be saluted for their
  outstanding efforts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the students of Lorena Middle
  School for raising more than $2,000 in the Pennies for Patients
  campaign and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Lorena Middle School as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
