R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Betty Jean Slater of Riesel passed away on March 8,
  2011, at the age of 60, leaving her circle of family and friends to
  cherish their many happy memories of time spent in her company; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Boise, Idaho, the former Jean Bartl was
  born on July 26, 1950, to Bill and Iris Bartl; she married Lloyd
  Slater, and the couple made their home on Mr. Slater's family ranch
  in Riesel, where they raised Black Angus cattle; with the passing
  years, Mr. and Mrs. Slater were blessed with two daughters, Tina and
  Cristy; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Jean Slater
  will remember the way she touched their lives with her strength, her
  determination, and her kindness, and she will forever hold a
  treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Betty Jean Slater
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  husband, Lloyd Slater; to her daughters, Tina Cornelius and Cristy
  Tatum; to her grandchildren, Diandra, Desman, and Deshaun Tatum; to
  her father, William Bartl; to her mother-in-law, Berta Slater; to
  her siblings, Kay and Carl O'Krakel, Hank and Sharla O'Krakel, Stan
  and Daniela O'Krakel, Sonya O'Krakel, Max and Shirley Schmitz,
  Jenny and Deloi Dilwarth, Kieth and Christy Schmitz, Curtis and
  Cherie Schmitz, Geri and Mike Alger, Heidi Alger, and Stephanie and
  Ryan Torres; and to her many other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jean
  Slater.
