R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Businesses that employ Texans make an important
  contribution to the vitality of their local communities and to the
  overall prosperity of the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, United Technologies Corporation, a diversified
  company that provides a broad range of high-technology products and
  services to the global aerospace and commercial building
  industries, has established a significant presence in a number of
  Texas cities; and
         WHEREAS, Texas-based, UTC businesses encompass Sikorsky
  helicopters, with operations in Corpus Christi, Grapevine,
  Beeville, and Fort Worth; Pratt & Whitney engines, in Grand
  Prairie, San Antonio, Wichita Falls, and Carrollton; Hamilton
  Sundstrand aerospace and industrial products, in Houston; Carrier
  heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration, in Houston and
  Pasadena; Otis elevators and escalators, in Houston and Dallas; and
  UTC Fire & Security systems, in Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Collectively, these businesses employ approximately
  3,800 Texans and annually pay more than $13 million in state and
  local taxes; UTC also makes a beneficial impact through its
  philanthropy; in 2009, its contributions to Texas charitable causes
  totaled more than $300,000, while its donation to the Employee
  Scholar Program in Texas amounted to over $3.3 million; and
         WHEREAS, Those associated with United Technologies
  Corporation in Texas can take pride in the record of achievement
  they have forged and in the myriad ways their work has helped to
  build a stronger state; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby welcome representatives of United Technologies
  Corporation to the Texas State Capitol and extend to them sincere
  best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable visit; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the UTC representatives as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
