R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Betty Hooey has been elected to represent Dallas
  County during the 2011-2013 term of the Texas Silver-Haired
  Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Designed as a model legislature for senior citizens,
  the first Silver-Haired Legislature was organized in Missouri in
  1973, and since that time similar programs have been established
  across the country; the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature was created
  in 1985 by the 69th Texas Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Today, the body serves as a means of informing older
  Texans about the legislative process and offering a forum where
  they can discuss issues particularly affecting individuals age 60
  and above; in addition to promoting civic engagement, the Texas
  Silver-Haired Legislature contributes to improved quality of life
  for seniors throughout the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, By sharing her time and knowledge with this
  important initiative, Betty Hooey is working to make her community
  a better place, and the senior citizens of Dallas County are
  fortunate to count her among their fellow residents; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Betty Hooey on her election to the
  Texas Silver-Haired Legislature for the 2011-2013 term and extend
  to her sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hooey as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
