R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Warrior's Weekend is taking place in Port O'Connor
  May 20 through 22, 2011, and this outstanding event offers
  well-deserved recognition for the selfless service rendered by the
  members of the United States armed forces; and
         WHEREAS, First held in 2007, Warrior's Weekend brings
  together military personnel who have been wounded in action to
  enjoy a relaxing day of fishing in the Gulf of Mexico as well as a
  special dinner and other activities; and
         WHEREAS, The event places a special emphasis on those service
  members who have been injured in the Global War on Terrorism,
  including Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom;
  more than 200 veterans are taking part, arriving by air and bus not
  only from Texas facilities such as Fort Sam Houston, Fort Hood, and
  Fort Bliss but also from military bases and hospitals in Kentucky,
  Colorado, Kansas, New York, Utah, and Washington, D.C.; and
         WHEREAS, Warrior's Weekend also allows Texans to show their
  support for the exceptional efforts of our men and women in uniform;
  as part of that effort, a Field of Honor composed of more than 1,000
  American flags is on display at Faith Family Church in Victoria May
  14 through 30, with a dedication ceremony taking place on May 20
  attended by Warrior's Weekend honorees; the flags are purchased
  through individual donations, and this touching monument pays
  tribute to all members of the military who have been wounded or who
  have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty; and
         WHEREAS, The valiant individuals who take up arms to defend
  our nation and its ideals are deserving of our deepest respect and
  enduring support, and Warrior's Weekend provides an exceptional
  opportunity to honor the admirable heroism of those who have risked
  all by stepping into harm's way as members of the United States
  military; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 2011 Warrior's Weekend and
  extend heartfelt appreciation and sincere best wishes to the
  veterans taking part in the event as well as to all those who have
  worked to make the gathering a success.
