R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, National Public Works Week, held each year during
  the third week of May, is a celebration of the men and women who
  provide and maintain the infrastructure and services on which all
  citizens rely; and
         WHEREAS, Clean running water, effective storm drains and
  sewers, sturdy roads and bridges, and safe buildings are but a few
  of the components of a successful infrastructure; and
         WHEREAS, Ensuring the efficient operation of countless
  systems throughout our state and nation, public works employees
  plan, build, operate, and maintain these vital services; and
         WHEREAS, National Public Works Week offers residents of the
  Lone Star State and beyond an occasion to acknowledge and
  appreciate the importance of public works in their communities;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby join in observing May 15-21, 2011, as National
  Public Works Week and encourage all Texans to recognize the
  contributions that public works employees make every day to our
  health, safety, comfort, and quality of life.
