R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Created in 2002, the H-E-B Excellence in Education
  Awards were established to honor outstanding public school
  professionals and to thank them for their dedication and
  commitment; and
         WHEREAS, H-E-B seeks to pay tribute to those educators and
  administrators who go the extra mile each and every day to serve
  their students and their communities and who inspire others to do
  the same; and
         WHEREAS, Nominees for the awards submit applications
  detailing their professional experiences, educational
  philosophies, and achievements both inside and outside the
  classroom; 40 individual statewide finalists are named from 5
  regions, and 10 winners will ultimately be announced, including 2
  principals, 6 teachers, and 1 large and 1 small school district; and
         WHEREAS, Winning teachers will be named from both elementary
  and secondary schools in categories recognizing those with less
  than 10, between 10 and 20, and more than 20 years of classroom
  experience; all winners will receive prizes worth thousands of
  dollars for themselves and for their schools; and
         WHEREAS, In addition, H-E-B has introduced a new awards
  category this year, the Fit Campus Award, which will honor 10
  campuses across the state that make special efforts to educate
  children, parents, and staff members about the importance of health
  and wellness; and
         WHEREAS, In bestowing the Excellence in Education Awards,
  H-E-B is recognizing the notable efforts of Texas educators who are
  building the future of the Lone Star State by teaching our next
  generation of leaders; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the 2011 recipients of the H-E-B
  Excellence in Education Awards and extend to them sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for these accomplished professionals as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
