R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Mike and Judy Muzyczyn of the Kleberg County Airport
  are being recognized as the 2011 General Aviation Airport
  Management Team of the Year by the Texas Department of
  Transportation, Aviation Division, on May 26, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Muzyczyn are both champions of the
  Kleberg County Airport; Mr. Muzyczyn is the president of Mike's
  Aircraft Shop and the airport manager, and Mrs. Muzyczyn is a member
  of the airport's management team; and
         WHEREAS, For more than 25 years, Mrs. Muzyczyn has been
  organizing fly-ins, air shows, and Young Eagle events to engage the
  local community and demonstrate what the airport has to offer; she
  has also been an advocate for the airport's infrastructure,
  securing financial resources to maintain its pavement and to repair
  and remodel the terminal area; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Muzyczyn brought together a group of airport
  supporters in the summer of 2010 to request reestablishment of the
  Airport Advisory Commission from the Kleberg County Commissioners
  Court, and she and her husband, along with eight other members of
  the community, were appointed to the commission; they have created
  a new website for the airport and are exploring other economic
  development strategies; and
         WHEREAS, A certified A&P aircraft mechanic since 1961, Mr.
  Muzyczyn was born in the Ukraine in 1939; his family evaded the Nazi
  army for five years before being captured and placed on trains
  headed for Auschwitz, but the prisoners overpowered their captors
  and managed to escape; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Muzyczyn and his family came to America in 1950,
  settling in New Jersey, and he graduated from the Teterboro School
  of Aeronautics in 1961; he joined the navy and spent his career in
  the military stationed at Corpus Christi, receiving an honorable
  discharge in 1965 and subsequently working at an aircraft shop at
  Cuddihy Field until it closed in 1983; and
         WHEREAS, In early 2011, Mr. Muzyczyn was recognized by the
  Federal Aviation Administration with the Charles Taylor Master
  Mechanic Award for his 50 years of service to the aviation
  community; and
         WHEREAS, The tireless efforts of Mike and Judy Muzyczyn have
  indeed benefited their fellow aviators and Kleberg County
  residents, and they are truly worthy of this prestigious honor;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Mike and Judy Muzyczyn on their
  selection as the 2011 General Aviation Management Team of the Year
  by the Texas Department of Transportation, Aviation Division, and
  extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Muzyczyn as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
