R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |
|
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Bobby and Brenda |
|
Vaughan of Powderly celebrated this joyous milestone in their |
|
marriage on April 1, 2011; and |
|
WHEREAS, After dating for three years, Bobby Lee Vaughan and |
|
the former Brenda Day were joined in matrimony in 1961 at a ceremony |
|
held at Bounds Baptist Church in Powderly; they are the parents of a |
|
daughter, Cindy, and the couple also have a large extended family |
|
with whom they are very close; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active members of their community, Mr. Vaughan is |
|
retired from the Babcock & Wilcox Company, and Mrs. Vaughan is |
|
retired from her job as the kitchen manager at North Lamar High |
|
School; in addition to meeting their work and family |
|
responsibilities, the couple are valued members of Bounds Baptist |
|
Church, where Mr. Vaughan is known as "Mr. Fix-it"; moreover, he has |
|
been a member of the Powderly Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years |
|
and now serves as its president, and he is also a Lamar County |
|
reserve deputy sheriff; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughan have enjoyed five decades of |
|
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an |
|
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|
commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Bobby and Brenda Vaughan on their |
|
50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Vaughan as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
