R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The public school superintendents of Texas House
  District 117 have worked tirelessly to advance the quality of area
  schools and provide students with a supportive and challenging
  educational environment; and
         WHEREAS, Collectively serving more than 120,000 students,
  these six superintendents will graduate approximately 2,100
  seniors from their schools in 2011; together, these administrators
  have more than 158 years of experience in their field; and
         WHEREAS, The superintendent of the Lytle Independent School
  District, Michelle Carroll-Smith, has been a part of the district
  since she began first grade there over three decades ago; her
  grandparents and parents also attended Lytle schools, and her own
  children are now enrolled in the district; she has been an educator
  for 24 years and became the superintendent in 2000, overseeing 266
  employees, more than 1,700 students, and 4 campuses, including a
  state-of-the-art junior high school; and
         WHEREAS, James Stansberry is the superintendent of the Medina
  Valley Independent School District, serving since 2007 and
  overseeing 5 campuses, 445 employees, and more than 3,300 students;
  he began his career 13 years ago with Huntington ISD, and he has
  also been the superintendent of the Dawson and George West
  districts; and
         WHEREAS, Northside Independent School District
  superintendent Dr. John Folks has been in the education field for
  four decades; leading the district since 2002, he is responsible
  for 110 campuses, nearly 13,000 employees, and almost 95,000
  students; and
         WHEREAS, Saul Hinojosa is the superintendent of the Somerset
  Independent School District, the largest employer in the city of
  Somerset with over 600 faculty and staff members and nearly 3,800
  students on 6 campuses; he has been in education for 18 years, with
  7 years' service in the district; and
         WHEREAS, The Southside Independent School District is ably
  guided by Dr. Juan Antonio Jasso, who became superintendent in
  2007; supervising more than 5,000 students and some 750 employees,
  he draws on his previous experience as superintendent of the Van
  Vlek and Sabinal ISDs in his present post; he also founded the
  award-winning Harlandale Extended Learning Center; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Lloyd Verstuyft has been the superintendent of
  the Southwest Independent School District since 2010; with 32 years
  in the district as a student and an educator, he is now in charge of
  13 schools and approximately 11,500 students; and
         WHEREAS, Those Texans who devote themselves to the education
  of our state's young people are truly deserving of our profound
  gratitude and admiration, and their contributions benefit not only
  their districts but their communities and beyond; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the superintendents of Texas House
  District 117 and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
  success with their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for these outstanding administrators as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
