R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The dedicated and skillful members of the Bowie
  Middle School seventh-grade track team are 2011 city champions
  after winning the Irving Independent School District meet, held on
  March 28 and 31; and
         WHEREAS, The Cubs capped an undefeated season by scoring a
  total of 161 points in the seven-school, citywide showdown; and
         WHEREAS, Among the triumphant performers for Bowie were Alec
  Gubser, who won the 800 and 400 and anchored the gold medal-winning
  mile relay, Luis Gallegos, who won the 200 hurdles, and Jesus
  Flores, who took gold in the discus; and
         WHEREAS, The team received additional vital contributions
  throughout the year from the other members of the squad: Kervin
  Hernandez, Manuel Bustillos, Jonathan Horta, Jonathan Martinez,
  Nicholas Johnson, Paul Coleman, Jamie Sifuentes, Santiago Prado,
  Luis Ortega, Anthony Alvarado, Alejandro Chavez, Christian
  Portillo, Blake Wright, Jaziel Castillo, Miguel Torres, Martin
  Morales, Paul Munoz, David Perez, Seireadan Zipper, Cesar
  Hernandez, Edson Dominguez, and Hernan Armendariz; and
         WHEREAS, These determined athletes were guided by head coach
  Michael Minks and assistant coaches Brandon Bailey and Daniel
  Fears; school athletic coordinator Kevin Herring, principal Joe
  Moreno, and vice principal Cara Hinkson also provided important
  support; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a city championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the members of the Bowie Middle
  School seventh-grade boys' track team may indeed reflect with pride
  on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Bowie Middle School
  seventh-grade boys' track team on winning the 2011 Irving ISD city
  championship and extend to the athletes, coaches, and
  administrators sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
