R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Honorable John Roach retired as Collin County
  district attorney on December 31, 2010, concluding a notable career
  in public service that spanned more than three decades; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Roach began his tenure in 2003 and served for two
  terms; under his strong leadership, the district attorney's office
  won a number of high-profile convictions, and in 2008, Mr. Roach was
  honored by his peers when he was named the recipient of the Lone
  Star Prosecutor Award from the Texas District and County Attorneys
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, Before winning election as district attorney, this
  accomplished public servant served as judge of the 199th District
  Court in Collin County for 17 years; he became the first Collin
  County judge to serve on the Fifth District Court of Appeals in 1997
  and continued in that role until 2001; he previously distinguished
  himself for four years as a prosecutor in Dallas County and had a
  solo practice for several years; and
         WHEREAS, John Roach established a long and commendable record
  of professional achievement, and he may take justifiable pride in
  his contributions to Collin County; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable John Roach on his
  retirement as district attorney of Collin County and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Roach as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
