R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Roach retired as Collin County |
|
district attorney on December 31, 2010, concluding a notable career |
|
in public service that spanned more than three decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Roach began his tenure in 2003 and served for two |
|
terms; under his strong leadership, the district attorney's office |
|
won a number of high-profile convictions, and in 2008, Mr. Roach was |
|
honored by his peers when he was named the recipient of the Lone |
|
Star Prosecutor Award from the Texas District and County Attorneys |
|
Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Before winning election as district attorney, this |
|
accomplished public servant served as judge of the 199th District |
|
Court in Collin County for 17 years; he became the first Collin |
|
County judge to serve on the Fifth District Court of Appeals in 1997 |
|
and continued in that role until 2001; he previously distinguished |
|
himself for four years as a prosecutor in Dallas County and had a |
|
solo practice for several years; and |
|
WHEREAS, John Roach established a long and commendable record |
|
of professional achievement, and he may take justifiable pride in |
|
his contributions to Collin County; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable John Roach on his |
|
retirement as district attorney of Collin County and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Roach as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
