R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Grady Prestage has ably served the people of Fort |
|
Bend County as county commissioner for two decades, and his |
|
knowledge and dedication have earned him the respect of many people |
|
along the way; and |
|
WHEREAS, After graduating from Southern University, Mr. |
|
Prestage worked as a civil engineer for a number of oil and gas |
|
companies and consulting engineering firms; he later served as a |
|
partner in a public relations and marketing consulting firm; and |
|
WHEREAS, On his election to Place 2 in November 1990, Mr. |
|
Prestage became the first African American since Reconstruction to |
|
serve on the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court; today, he |
|
represents citizens of Houston, Missouri City, Stafford, Quail |
|
Valley, and Fifth Street; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Prestage has further contributed to his fellow |
|
residents through his work with the board of the Fort Bend Crime |
|
Victims Alliance, the Texas Department of State Health Services |
|
Indigent Health Care Advisory Committee, and the City of Houston |
|
Planning Commission; a senior fellow of the American Leadership |
|
Forum, he has also shared his time with the Chase Bank Post Oak |
|
Advisory Committee; and |
|
WHEREAS, Grady Prestage has demonstrated a lasting |
|
commitment to making Fort Bend County an even better place in which |
|
to live and work, and he may take justifiable pride in his exemplary |
|
record of achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Fort Bend county commissioner Grady |
|
Prestage for his service to the community and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Prestage as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
