R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Kathy Ward concluded her term as a Collin County
  commissioner in December 2010, and it is indeed fitting to honor her
  noteworthy contributions; and
         WHEREAS, Appointed in 2008, Ms. Ward then won election to
  complete an unexpired term; she dedicated herself to addressing
  important local and regional transportation matters, as well as tax
  abatement policy revisions, the county budget, and issues
  surrounding mental health programs; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Ward was named as Collin County's representative
  to the Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition, a leading transportation
  advocacy group, in 2009; she was subsequently selected as chair of
  the organization's communications committee; and
         WHEREAS, Before joining the county commission, Ms. Ward
  served as the first female chair of the county Republican Party; she
  has also been employed as a special education teacher and worked in
  the private sector as an operations director and corporate
  leadership trainer; and
         WHEREAS, The effectiveness of government depends on the hard
  work of committed public officials, and through her diligent
  efforts, Kathy Ward may indeed take pride in her record of service
  to Collin County; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Kathy Ward for her work as a Collin
  County commissioner and extend sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Ward as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
