R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Kathy Ward concluded her term as a Collin County |
|
|
commissioner in December 2010, and it is indeed fitting to honor her |
|
|
noteworthy contributions; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Appointed in 2008, Ms. Ward then won election to |
|
|
complete an unexpired term; she dedicated herself to addressing |
|
|
important local and regional transportation matters, as well as tax |
|
|
abatement policy revisions, the county budget, and issues |
|
|
surrounding mental health programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Ward was named as Collin County's representative |
|
|
to the Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition, a leading transportation |
|
|
advocacy group, in 2009; she was subsequently selected as chair of |
|
|
the organization's communications committee; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Before joining the county commission, Ms. Ward |
|
|
served as the first female chair of the county Republican Party; she |
|
|
has also been employed as a special education teacher and worked in |
|
|
the private sector as an operations director and corporate |
|
|
leadership trainer; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The effectiveness of government depends on the hard |
|
|
work of committed public officials, and through her diligent |
|
|
efforts, Kathy Ward may indeed take pride in her record of service |
|
|
to Collin County; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Kathy Ward for her work as a Collin |
|
|
County commissioner and extend sincere best wishes for the future; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Ward as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
