R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Hannah Kunkle retired as district clerk for Collin
  County on December 31, 2010, drawing to a close a notable career in
  public service that spanned nearly four decades; and
         WHEREAS, The longest-serving district clerk in Collin County
  history, Ms. Kunkle was first elected in 1986 and went on to serve
  six four-year terms; her responsibilities included keeping,
  protecting, and preserving the judicial records of the Collin
  County District Courts in compliance with the Texas Constitution
  and fulfilling the statutory duties required of the custodian of
  those vital records; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Kunkle first joined the district clerk's office
  in 1971, shortly after the creation of the 199th District Court, the
  county's first full-time district court; over the course of her
  long tenure, the office underwent many changes, and information
  once recorded in handwritten index ledgers of court cases is now
  entered and accessed through a seamless electronic filing system;
  this transition required the digital imaging of cases dating back
  to the county's establishment in 1846; and
         WHEREAS, The effective operation of government depends on the
  contributions of committed public servants, and Hannah Kunkle may
  indeed take pride in her accomplishments as she begins the next
  exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Hannah Kunkle on her retirement as
  Collin County district clerk and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Kunkle as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
