R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, H. E. "Gene" Crump, Jr., is retiring from his
  position as deputy executive director of the Texas Workforce
  Commission in May 2011, drawing to a close a notable career in
  public service that has spanned 35 years; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Mr.
  Crump earned master's degrees in financial management from the U.S.
  Naval Postgraduate School and in strategic studies from the U.S.
  Naval War College; and
         WHEREAS, In 1976, he joined the Department of the Navy, and
  during his distinguished 18-year tenure, he served as comptroller
  for three naval installations, developing and executing budgets in
  excess of $400 million; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Crump went on to work as a budget analyst and
  budget officer with the Texas General Services Commission, where he
  was promoted to the position of fiscal division director in 1997; he
  later brought his wealth of knowledge and experience to the Texas
  Workforce Commission, and as deputy executive director, he has
  assisted with the day-to-day operations of the agency while
  directing the departments that provide core internal services,
  including finance, human resources management, and business
  operations; and
         WHEREAS, Gene Crump has demonstrated professionalism and
  dedication throughout his years with the Texas Workforce
  Commission, and he has earned the lasting respect of all who have
  been privileged to work with him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor H. E. "Gene" Crump, Jr., on his retirement
  as deputy executive director of the Texas Workforce Commission and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Crump as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
