R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that we join the family and |
|
|
friends of Stephanie Ashley Flores in mourning her untimely death |
|
|
on April 14, 2011, at the age of 22; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Cornelio and Mary Jane Flores, |
|
|
Stephanie Flores was born on May 15, 1988, in San Antonio; she |
|
|
graduated from Sandra Day O'Connor High School in 2006 and went on |
|
|
to attend The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned |
|
|
degrees in English and Radio-Television-Film and was working on a |
|
|
third degree, in Biology; she also served as a research assistant |
|
|
for the Section of Integrative Biology and the Center for |
|
|
Perceptual Systems, both on the Austin campus; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to excelling academically, Ms. Flores |
|
|
was a key member of the UT Women's Rugby Football Club and had been |
|
|
unanimously elected captain by her teammates; she played with the |
|
|
Texas Rugby Union Under-23 team as well and was participating in an |
|
|
all-star tournament in Kansas City at the time of her death; an |
|
|
inspiring mentor to her fellow players, she was known for her |
|
|
positive attitude and her leadership skills both on and off the |
|
|
field; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young woman enjoyed a wide circle |
|
|
of devoted friends, who describe her as smart, caring, and |
|
|
selfless, with a smile and laugh that could brighten any day; though |
|
|
she will be deeply missed by the many people who loved her, she will |
|
|
forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Stephanie Ashley |
|
|
Flores and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to |
|
|
her parents, Cornelio and Mary Jane Flores; to her sister, |
|
|
Catherine Flores; to her brother, Cornelio Flores III, and his |
|
|
wife, Shawna; to her nieces and nephew, Allison, Mia, and Diego; to |
|
|
her grandparents, Cornelio and Ofelia Flores; to her boyfriend, |
|
|
Krys Lambiase; and to her many other friends and relatives; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Stephanie |
|
|
Flores. |
