R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Maria Maciel of Waco passed away on April 3, 2011, at
  the age of 99, leaving her circle of family and friends to cherish
  their many happy memories of time spent in her company; and
         WHEREAS, Born on February 21, 1912, in Mexico, the former
  Maria Hernandez was the daughter of Hilario and Fernanda Hernandez;
  she was joined in marriage with Andres Maciel on June 22, 1931, and
  the couple shared more than seven rewarding decades together, until
  Mr. Maciel's passing in 2003; and
         WHEREAS, Maria Maciel was a devoted mother to her five sons,
  Trinidad, Raymond, Jesse, Johnny, and Joe, and four daughters,
  Esperanza, Victoria, Gloria, and Andrea, and to Irene Salazar, whom
  she raised as a daughter; over the years, she delighted in seeing
  her family grow to include 34 grandchildren, 71
  great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren, and 9
  great-great-great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Earlier in her life, Mrs. Maciel worked for Roy
  Beatty Cleaners, Holiday Cleaners, and Buchanan's Laundry; a woman
  of deep faith, she was an active parishioner of St. Francis Catholic
  Church, where she belonged to the Guadalupanas; this beloved
  matriarch enjoyed cooking for her loved ones and kept them all in
  her prayers; and
         WHEREAS, Blessed with a sweet, amiable nature, Maria Maciel
  touched many lives during her time on this earth, and she will
  forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and
  loved her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Maria Maciel and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  children and their spouses, Raymond and Sally Maciel, Jesse and
  Linda Maciel, Johnny and Eva Maciel, Joe and Dodie Maciel,
  Esperanza Salazar and Jose Soto, Victoria Mata, Gloria Gonzales,
  and Andrea Perez; to Irene Salazar and her husband, Julio; to her
  grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren,
  and great-great-great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives
  and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria
  Maciel.
