R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
death of Floyd Darvin Parnell of Waco on April 6, 2011, at the age of |
|
81; and |
|
WHEREAS, Floyd Parnell was born in Falls County on April 11, |
|
1929, to Frank and Fannie Burdick Parnell and attended schools in |
|
Durango, Lott, and Troy; he married his high school sweetheart, the |
|
former Ann Redding, and together they were blessed with three |
|
children, Mike, Keith, and Cindy; the couple shared 35 years until |
|
Mrs. Parnell's death; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Parnell worked at Cameron Mills and the |
|
International Paper Company before joining Citizen's Bank, where he |
|
was fortunate enough to find love a second time; he married the |
|
former Lena Tickell in 1985 and retired the following year; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of strong faith, Mr. Parnell was an active |
|
member of the Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ, contributing to his |
|
fellow congregants as a teacher, deacon, and elder; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Floyd Parnell will be deeply missed, |
|
cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in |
|
the hearts of his family and friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Floyd Darvin Parnell |
|
and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
wife, Lena Parnell; to his sons, Mike Parnell and his wife, Kelly, |
|
and Keith Parnell and his wife, Bobbie; to his daughter, Cindy |
|
Wells, and her husband, Wayne; to his stepsons, George Tickell and |
|
Kenneth Tickell and his wife, Darlene; to his 13 grandchildren and |
|
31 great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Floyd |
|
Parnell. |
