R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Alec Sanchez of McGregor has received a 2011
  Prudential Spirit of Community Certificate of Excellence and a
  President's Volunteer Service Award for his innovative community
  service program; and
         WHEREAS, A senior at Midway High School and captain of the
  swim team, Mr. Sanchez created Adaptive Aquatics, a swimming and
  water safety program for autistic children, which he teaches at the
  Doris Miller Family YMCA in Waco; he designed the curriculum,
  solicited families of autistic children through the Heart of Texas
  Autism Network, and later sought feedback from parents to help
  improve the program; and
         WHEREAS, Prudential Spirit of Community Certificates of
  Excellence are awarded to the top 10 percent of Prudential Spirit of
  Community Award applicants in each state, and the President's
  Volunteer Service Award recognizes individuals for contributing a
  certain number of service hours over the course of a year; Mr.
  Sanchez also earned the Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award
  from the Central Texas Association of Fundraising Professionals in
  November 2010; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Carlos and Sandra Sanchez, this exemplary
  young Texan is a member of the National Honor Society and the Midway
  High Spanish club, and he is in the top 20 percent of his senior
  class; in addition, he attends Harris Creek Baptist Church and is
  active in Young Life; and
         WHEREAS, Alec Sanchez has made a positive difference in the
  lives of area children with his generosity, compassion, and
  creative vision, and he is a source of great pride to his family and
  community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Alec Sanchez for receiving a 2011
  Prudential Spirit of Community Certificate of Excellence and a
  President's Volunteer Service Award and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Sanchez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
