R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
death of Edna Delle Hammit of Crawford on March 27, 2011, at the age |
|
of 94; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Lufkin on March 28, 1916, to Robert and |
|
Amanda Horton, Edna Horton was the third oldest of 17 children; and |
|
WHEREAS, At the age of 17, she married Saint Elmo Hammit, and |
|
they enjoyed 74 years together; the couple were the parents of two |
|
children, Robert and Billie; and |
|
WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Mrs. Hammit devoted herself to |
|
caring for her family, which grew to encompass four generations; |
|
she was a strong believer in the value of hard work and derived |
|
great comfort and inspiration from her religious beliefs; and |
|
WHEREAS, Edna Delle Hammit centered her life around her faith |
|
and her family, and she will long be remembered with deep affection |
|
by all who knew her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Edna Delle Hammit |
|
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|
grandchildren, KeLe Crouch, Deedy Fletcher, Trae Kendrick, Shannon |
|
Donaldson, Cyndi Alejo, Alicia Reid, and Robert Hammit, Jr.; to her |
|
brothers, Vernon, Floyd, and Clinton Horton; to her sister, Lucy |
|
Gilmore; to her 15 great-grandchildren and 4 |
|
great-great-grandchildren; to her daughter-in-law, Ginger Hammit; |
|
and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Edna Delle |
|
Hammit. |
