R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |
|
|
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Juan and Olga Lugo of |
|
|
Donna are celebrating this joyous milestone in their marriage on |
|
|
June 15, 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Juan Lugo and the former Olga Barrientes met in 1958 |
|
|
at a party at a friend's home, and they were joined in matrimony in |
|
|
1961 at a ceremony held in Donna; they are the parents of six |
|
|
children, Norma Garcia and her husband, Sigifredo, Corina Melendez |
|
|
and her husband, Gerardo, David Lugo and his wife, Silvia, Juan |
|
|
Lugo, Jr., and his wife, Rosa, Fermin Lugo and his wife, Isabel, and |
|
|
the late Cynthia Lugo, and have also welcomed 14 grandchildren and 6 |
|
|
great-grandchildren into their family; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Beginning their married life as migrant workers, Mr. |
|
|
and Mrs. Lugo traveled to Ohio, Michigan, and Kansas before |
|
|
settling in Iowa for five years, where Mr. Lugo was a welder for |
|
|
Field Morris Scale Company; after returning to Donna in 1970, Mrs. |
|
|
Lugo worked in food service for the Donna Independent School |
|
|
District for 21 years and Mr. Lugo was a welder for Donna ISD before |
|
|
opening his own welding shop; they are valued members of Family Life |
|
|
Ministries in Weslaco; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Lugo have enjoyed five decades of |
|
|
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an |
|
|
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|
|
commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Juan and Olga Lugo on their golden |
|
|
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Lugo as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
