R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, founded in
  1954 as the Tri-County Teachers Credit Union, is a nonprofit
  cooperative dedicated to providing local educators and their
  families with a range of financial products and services; three of
  its 10 branches operate within the Katy Independent School
  District; and
         WHEREAS, During the 2009-2010 school year and the fall 2010
  term, the BVSCU generously donated more than $8,000 to Katy schools
  for a variety of programs and activities; in addition to providing
  food to each campus, bus barn, maintenance facility, police
  department, and support complex, the group sponsored the KEYs
  Mentorship Program, helping to provide scholarships to deserving
  students; and
         WHEREAS, The employees of BVSCU have also given selflessly of
  their time and energy to Katy schools; president and CEO Joe Simmons
  has served on the Bond Task Force and on the advisory board of Katy
  ISD Partners in Education, and other BVSCU personnel have mentored
  students and participated in the Junior Achievement and Promise to
  Read programs; and
         WHEREAS, Community-minded local businesses play a vital role
  in helping public education in the Lone Star State, and Brazos
  Valley Schools Credit Union is a valued friend and supporter of the
  teachers, staff, and students of Katy ISD; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union for
  its many contributions to Katy ISD and extend to the BVSCU staff and
  management sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
