R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Since 1929, members of the Galveston/Houston
  Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women have served their community
  with diligence and dedication; and
         WHEREAS, The ACCW is affiliated with the National Council of
  Catholic Women, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia; the NCCW acts
  through its membership to support, empower, and educate all
  Catholic women in spirituality, leadership, and service; and
         WHEREAS, Members of the ACCW participate in days of retreat
  and seminars encouraging faith development, and they support St.
  Mary's Seminary and the Port of Houston chaplain program; the ACCW
  offers training sessions in leadership and its members take part in
  myriad activities, including opposition to abortion and support of
  Catholic Charities and projects of the archdiocese; and
         WHEREAS, In 1933, the Catholic Clerical Student Fund was
  incorporated in Galveston for the education of young men to the
  priesthood, and the ACCW continues to raise funds for that
  organization; additionally, at each biennial convention, the ACCW
  adopts resolutions addressing contemporary issues, such as
  immigration reform, recycling, and support of diverse families; and
         WHEREAS, The Galveston/Houston Archdiocesan Council of
  Catholic Women has made many significant contributions over the
  course of its long history, and it is indeed fitting to recognize
  this noteworthy organization; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Galveston/Houston Archdiocesan
  Council of Catholic Women and extend to its members sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for ACCW as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
  of Representatives.
