R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association |
|
|
Barbecue Cook-off offers participants an opportunity to enjoy good |
|
|
times and good eating while also helping to provide scholarships to |
|
|
deserving area students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This Lone Star Barbecue Society championship event |
|
|
features an outstanding lineup of talented cooks who put their |
|
|
meat-smoking skills to the test as they strive to prepare the |
|
|
tastiest fare in the competition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Proceeds from the cook-off benefit Scholarship |
|
|
Fest, which supports the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals |
|
|
Association's mission to encourage, instruct, and promote the |
|
|
education of youth in the county; through the charitable efforts of |
|
|
this exemplary nonprofit, more than $250,000 in scholarship funds |
|
|
has been awarded to local high school seniors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With their many years of experience in hosting the |
|
|
Gillespie County Fair and other activities, the dedicated |
|
|
volunteers of the fair association are well versed in providing |
|
|
quality entertainment, and the barbecue cook-off is sure to be a fun |
|
|
and festive gathering that will be a source of fond memories for all |
|
|
who participate; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the Gillespie County Fair and |
|
|
Festivals Association Barbecue Cook-off and extend sincere best |
|
|
wishes to all those in attendance for an enjoyable and rewarding |
|
|
event. |
