R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A remarkable season came to a triumphant conclusion
  as the boys' soccer team of Carroll High School in Southlake won the
  University Interscholastic League 5A state championship with a
  victory in the title game on April 16, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Facing Round Rock McNeil High School in the finals
  of the UIL tournament, the Dragons benefited from an outstanding
  showing by goalkeeper Oshick Shams, the game's most valuable
  player, as well as goals by Karl de Zoeten and Mac McGuire to post a
  2-0 win and claim the team's first state championship since 2001;
  and
         WHEREAS, Southlake Carroll finished the season with an
  incredible record of 28 wins, zero losses, and three ties, and it
  held its opponents scoreless in 22 matches, a new school record and
  the second-most shutouts ever recorded in UIL competition; as a
  result of their commanding performance, the Dragons have been
  recognized as one of the top teams in the nation, earning the No. 1
  spot in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America High
  School Winter Rankings and the No. 2 slot in the ESPN Rise Fab 50
  Final Winter Rankings; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to being an unforgettable achievement
  for the athletes, the 2011 5A championship marks another milestone
  in the career of head coach Greg Oglesby, who has seen his teams win
  more than 400 games since founding the school's soccer program; the
  Carroll players also received vital guidance from assistant coaches
  Sal Richie, Dusty Allen, and Joe Barton; and
         WHEREAS, By proving themselves the finest 5A team in Texas,
  the Dragons have furthered their school's notable record of
  athletic excellence, and their accomplishment will be a source of
  pride for Carroll High students and supporters for many years to
  come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the boys' soccer team of Carroll
  High School in Southlake on winning the 2010-2011 UIL 5A state
  championship and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
